The slide show features all of the stars we saw and our pics from the party. We weren't allowed to ask for pics with all of them, we had to act like this was no big deal and we were used to mingling in this type of crowd. However, if I worked for the Enquirer, I would tell you that Cameron from 'House" is dating the guy from Prison Break and Roy from "The Office" is dating, Anna from "V". I saw it first hand.... Also it was the first time I had ever been asked by the actor himself for me to watch their particular show. So I will be adding "Dark Blue" on TNT on Wed. nights to my Tivo list, because Dylan McDermott ask me to...how could I say no??
Background...
The Cowgirls Historical Foundation was invited to a party at the WB studios in Burbank, CA last Tuesday. There were eight of us that were able to pull the trip off with just a weeks notice. We drove in from AZ, UT, and CA and met at a hotel near the studio with a horse trailer full of vintage clothing and silver saddles at 4pm on Tuesday. We were met at the studios by six horses and a crew of wranglers to help us saddle up and prepare for a parade. The WB party was for international buyers, they are brought to LA to pre-view new shows offered by Warner Bros. and then are wined and dined until the wee hours of the morning. Wherein they begin the worldwide bidding war on US's current shows to be broadcast across the globe. We had no idea what to expect and who would be there. When we arrived at the party we were ushered into "Western Town" which was a long street lined with building used on movie and TV sets. There was food, drinks, can can girls, bartenders, saloon girls and guys and basically anything you could think of and more.... We saw quite a few TV stars from V, The OC, The Office, and some we didn't' really know. We walked around and mingled and took pictures with various international buyers and WB execs. At 8:45 we left Western town to get on our horse for the parade that would bring us through Western Town and into Carnival world. As we were headed to get our horse we saw Chris Kattan giving an interview, I waved foolishly and he waved back. While we were putting bridles on the horses, some guy was asking Aimee a lot of questions about the saddles and when she turned around she realized it was William Shatner! We got to talk to him about horses and saddles until it was time to ride. The parade was preceded with gun shots, a band and some scantily clad band members, then our trick ropers and us on horse back, we were followed by the weirdest group of carnival people I've ever seen. Think of Lady Gaga and you've got the picture. As we walked on the street it was like parting the red sea. Everyone was so fascinated by the horses that they never moved out of the way! People were taking pictures and filming us, walking right in between the horses it was intense! When we left Western town we walked through a huge clown mouth and were assaulted with huge lights that scared the horse to death and had to hurry through carnival town and unsaddle before the fireworks show began. Thankfully we were able to get them loaded and out of the way before the show. It was amazing!
We changed into dressier vintage western clothing and headed back into the party for mingling and pictures. It was like walking into Tim Burton's version Lady Gaga in Wonderland....just think about that for a minute and you still could not imagine the sights. Pyrotechnics, a ferris wheel, the entire set was set up with every store front and building filled with something. One building had a woman hanging from the ceiling pouring drinks, there was a freaky Vegas type carnival show happening in the center of the town, a candy store filled with every kind of candy imaginable, midgets in costume, women with beards, a parade with um...lets just say the men chaperones that were with us turned there back as they went by. It was a party of excess. We did meet quite a few WB execs who were very interested in our group and told us about some westerns coming up....hmmm..who knows. The highlight was when we sat down to eat and Dylan McDermott (Miracle on 34th street, Dark Blue) and Omari (Dark Blue) sat down with us to have dinner. We chatted about TV shows, horses, movies, our group, their works and so on. It was really cool! We decided at about 12am that we had eaten as much free food and drank as many smoothies and sodas that we needed that it was time leave. It was an amazing adventure and filled with sights I will never forget.
We drove home Wednesday early afternoon and we're so tired, we forgot to fuel up in Indio and left us stranded for 2 hours just 23 miles out of Blythe. We enjoyed some card games and then did not get home until about midnight!
